If you’re using Instagram personally, you may have received foolish or negative comments on your photos, videos, or reels. Since the Meta-owned photo-sharing app doesn’t allow editing comments, deleting them is the only option.
How to Delete Instagram Comments
- You can delete your and other users’ comments on your posts, reels, and videos under your Instagram profile.
- In other users’ Instagram profiles, you can delete any comments under their publications, but only those you’ve made.
- The section for photos and videos tagged with you is also on your Instagram page. However, you can only delete your comments there.
Delete Comments on the Instagram App
- First, open an Instagram publication containing the comment you want to delete.
- Tap the comment icon you want to remove. You can also open the full list by tapping “See all comments” below.
- On Android: Tap and hold on a comment to bring up the menu, and on iOS: swipe left. Then tap the trash can icon.
- Now, the comment has been removed from Instagram. You’ll get a notification about it for 3 seconds along with an undo button. If you don’t restore the comment during that time, you won’t be able to get it back.
Delete Instagram Comments on Android
- Go to the Instagram post with the comment you want to delete, and tap the comment to view it.
- Press and hold the comment until the options bar appears, then tap the trash icon to delete the comment permanently.
Delete Instagram Comments on iOS
- Open the Instagram post with the comment you want to delete.
- Tap the comment icon to expand the Instagram comments section.
- Swipe left on the comment you want to delete on Instagram.
- Then tap the trash icon to confirm the deletion.
Delete Instagram Comments on the Desktop
- Go to the Instagram post with the comment you want to delete.
- Click on the comment icon to view all Instagram comments.
- Hover over the specific comment you want to delete.
- Then click on the three-dot icon below the comment.
- Choose the delete option from the dropdown menu to remove the comment from your post.
Delete Multiple Comments on Instagram
- Navigate to your profile and tap on the Instagram profile icon.
- Then click on the hamburger menu located at the top right corner.
- Choose the activity from the menu options.
- Select comments to view all your Instagram comments.
- Press and hold on to the comments you want to delete, then tap the delete option to confirm.
